Benches

When benches are installed in pedestrian areas, at least one per group, and in any case, one for every five benches or fraction thereof, must meet the following design and location criteria, allowing access from the accessible pedestrian route.

  • 1 They will have an ergonomic design with a seat depth between 40 and 45 cm, and a height between 40 and 45 cm.
  • 2 They will have armrests and a backrest with a minimum height of 45 cm, forming a maximum 105° angle with the seat.
  • 3 In front of the bench, a 60 cm wide obstacle-free strip must run its entire length. One side must have a 1.50 m diameter clearance.
  • Ischial support.
  • – Depth between 20-40 cm.
  • – Support height between 70-80 cm.
  • – Backrest height between 80-100 cm.
  • – Minimum width of 50 cm.
  • – Element ensuring location and delimitation of the ischial support enclosure at a maximum height of 40 cm from ground level.
