Ensure Continuity in Pedestrian Pathways

Continuity in pedestrian paths ensures that users can safely navigate spaces without interruption or difficulty. This is especially important for people with disabilities, the elderly, and families, who rely on unbroken routes for ease of movement.

  • Ensure that accessible paths continue seamlessly across elevation changes, such as curbs or intersections with vehicular routes, using ramps or other appropriate solutions.
  • In areas where the pedestrian path and vehicular roadway are at the same level, use appropriate signage and markings to distinguish the pedestrian space and ensure safety.
  • Ensure that pathways are free from obstacles that could hinder smooth navigation, such as street furniture, poles, or parked vehicles.
  • Integrate appropriate lighting along the entire pedestrian path to improve visibility and safety, particularly at night or in low-light conditions.
