Foster Vitality and Social Interaction

The vitality of urban spaces is driven by the continuous presence of people and the various activities that take place in them. Lack of connectivity or underutilized spaces can greatly diminish the life, vibrancy and consequently the diversity of an area.

  • Promote spaces that encourage interaction and socialization by ensuring a mix of uses and activities in urban environments.
  • Avoid the isolation of areas that only serve single uses or are sparsely populated at certain times, such as low-density residential zones or commercial districts.
  • Ensure buildings are connected to streets and public spaces to promote engagement and avoid dead zones in urban areas.
  • Design spaces that support the formation of community ties and the mutual support among residents.
