Taxi Accessibility

Accessible taxi services are vital to ensuring everyone has the ability to move freely and independently within the city. With properly designed taxi interiors, clear signage at taxi ranks, and easy access to vehicles, people with disabilities can travel with comfort and dignity. This makes urban mobility more inclusive, efficient, and equitable for all users.

  • Ensure the height from the ground to the door frame is no more than 250 mm. If it’s higher, provide a step to assist with entry.
  • Provide facilities that allow wheelchair users to travel in their wheelchair.
  • Ensure there is a designated space for passengers, both facing forward and backward, with necessary backrests and a secure anchoring system with at least three anchor points.
  • Ensure taxi stops are easily identifiable with clear signage (using wayfinding techniques).
  • Provide accessible pathways leading to taxi ranks, ensuring everyone can safely access the queue.
